Live scan fingerprinting is a digital and electronic method of capturing and submitting fingerprints for background checks, which eliminates the need for traditional ink and paper. Live Scan Fingerprints are digitally transmitted to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and, if necessary, the FBI. The DOJ will check the fingerprints against known criminal history records.
